Transfer of virology and BBV diagnostic testing business
20th January 2009
iQur has decided to focus on its exciting vaccines programme, building upon promising early results to develop therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines for hepatitis, other infections and cancer. As a result, the diagnostics business of iQur has been transferred to Delphic, a provider of specialist diagnostics for HIV and hepatitis since 2001.
iQur would like to reassure its customers that all diagnostic testing services will continue to be delivered as normal, to the same high standards and without interruption.
iQur will continue to provide the ELF™ test for assessing liver fibrosis from its Southampton laboratory, in partnership with Siemens.

Further validation of ELF in NAFLD 1st February 2008
The effectiveness of iQur's exclusive test, ELF, as an accurate diagnostic tool continues to be validated in the clinical setting. A new study has corroborated earlier evidence of ELF’s ability to determine different stages of fibrosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. iQur-led consortium awarded grant for £1.1 million project to develop combined vaccine for hepatitis A and B 7th August 2007
A consortium of companies, led by liver disease experts iQur Ltd, has been awarded a grant by the Technology Strategy Board for a £1.1 million project that will develop a novel combined vaccine for hepatitis A and B.
Research conducted by iQur over the past 12 months has suggested that a recombinant vaccine based on a genetic construct of hepatitis B antigens combined with antigens specific for hepatitis A and B will dramatically increase vaccine efficiency. The properties of this ‘tandem-core’ vaccine are such that commercial scale manufacture will require a special bio-manufacturing process to enable rapid progression into clinical trials. |
